The first step in creating any change is to identify what needs to be changed. This may seem simple but as stated it is over simplified. In identifying what needs to be changed specificity is essential.
For example if losing weight is the goal identified then the chance of seeing this goal realized is slim. However, if the goal is to lose 40 lbs in 3 months, then you can divide 40 pounds by 12 weeks equals 3.3 pounds per week of needed weight loss.
Using this model you would then calculate how many fewer calories per day you would need to consume to drop 3.3 pounds per week. The amount of caloric daily intake can then be adjusted to incorporate calories lost by physical exercise.
This model of specificity of goal setting allows for greater success in reaching ones goals. So today’s assignment is to identify a specific goal. Then determine what action is needed by you to reach said goal. Smile you are one step closer to reaching your goal.
