Many would say that looking at life through rose-colored glasses is looking at life as better than it is in reality. But whose reality matters? It is our choice how we view our lives and circumstances. It is the proverbial glass ½ full ~½ empty; rose-colored glasses makes that equation ¾ full~1/4 empty. I know which I prefer.
How we choose to see things will directly affect the things we see and the way we feel each day. When we go through life damning politicians, fearful of war, frightened by the economy, irritated with co-workers and unhappy with our lives our eyes will automatically be drawn to news and events that confirm our view. Likewise, a good pair of rose-colored glasses will show you kindness, hardworking ethical people, beautiful sunsets and love everywhere. We all know people who seemingly have it all but are not happy people. Their attitudes convey anger, bitterness, sadness, yet others look at them as the epitome of success. A life of happiness truly does start in your mind; it is not your possessions, education, job or income. What you see is what you get. Which do you prefer to see?
Donning your shades does not make all problems go away, but it does dim them, freeing us to wake up and be happy, celebrating a new day of life filled with endless possibilities.
Put on your rose-colored glasses today and expect the best!
